Update+ Christmas 2018.

I really tried to post everyday for the Gratitude Challenge but clearly, I failed. This is what happens when you promise yourself to do something even when you clearly know you don’t have time to do it. This is lesson number one from me. Don’t be too ambitious  because sometimes you start lying to yourself.

I had answers for every post just not the time to do it. As I write this, I’m in the library using my study break to do this post. I will still do the Gratitude Challenge though. Maybe in February because I will have more time then.

It was Christmas on the 25th of December. Personally, Christmas is a day to reflect and remember God’s love for man and also a day to spend time with friends and family spreading good vibes. If you have been following my blogs, you will know that I’m studying in Malaysia so technically, I don’t have family here with me.

Christmas last year was really hard for me. Spending it away from home for the first time in almost 2 decades. My parents called me when it was 12 AM here and I seriously almost cried. My cousin called me a few hours later too and she didn’t help the situation because she currently lives on a whole other continent on her own. We were both sad so none of us could really help the other. It was a tragic call really. A very bad idea too.

I remember I went to church on Christmas Eve. After church, I met my friends at another friends house. The plan was to surprise one of the girls who was really bummed about not spending Christmas home. So food was prepared, we decorated the house and eventually surprised her. That was the highlight of my Christmas last year. I found it amazing how people who don’t really celebrate Christmas could go out of their way to make it a big deal for 4 of their friends who do. That’s what it’s all about though, Love.

This year, my Christmas didn’t begin on a sad note like last year. I had one of my most memorable one this year. My friends totally came through this year. Firstly, we all went to church. 19 of us. You may be wondering why I have so many friends and I don’t know if I have an answer but they are the best thing that happened to me here lol. So yes. 19 of us. Just going to church was enough for me. Having everyone there as we sang carols and yunnoe. It was great really. We then went out for lunch where as usual I ordered food and the portion turned out too big I couldn’t finish it. There was so much laughter, so many jokes, so much food. Honestly, I’m grateful to God my day went as well as it did yesterday because I don’t know what I would have done if it didn’t.

After lunch, we drove to Jumpstreet where I think I injured my leg. I haven’t had it checked out yet but I pray to God I don’t have to. Jumpstreet was fun. I was sweating like a pig and I discovered I might actually be able to be the greatest basket ball player the world has ever seen, if basketball was played on trampolines. I was drained and ready to get back home by the time I was done here.

My day ended early because I had an assignment to do the same night. The real tea is I didn’t even do the assignment because as soon as my head hit the pillow for a”nap”, I was out.

I had a great Christmas and honestly wouldn’t have had it any other way or spent it with any other people. Always remember, Jesus is the reason for the season.

Merry Christmas!!

From my family to yours.

(P.S Today should have been day 26 of the gratitude challenge. “What form of expression are you most grateful for?” Laughter. Real Genuine laughter where my eyes involuntarily close and tear up and I can hardly breathe.)

Wonani Xx.
