Hey everyone! Today is bittersweet as it is my last post for the Winter Afrobloggers Challenge 2020. A huge part of me cannot believe I actually made it through and a smaller part feels like these are things I could easily do.
Something this challenge has taught me is that many things seem impossible until they are done. I never imagined I would stick through the whole challenge. I could not imagine myself posting every single day like it’s nothing but somehow, I did it. I did the seemingly impossible.
Another thing I learnt is the importance of friends and family. I have met so many amazing bloggers through this challenge from different countries who unknowingly pushed me to keep going and to keep writing. Their really nice comments and amazing posts kept me hooked onto the challenge. Some of them don’t even know it but they are family now and have taught me huge and valuable life lessons.
I was walked through the African continent, one country at a time. I was taught different languages and elements of different cultures. I had thought provoking conversations and attended Ted Talks. I played musical chairs with presidents and had tea with the first ladies. I was in the front lines of freedom fights and fights against sexual abuse. I grew my music playlist and I learnt that PEOPLE CAN WRITE. All this and more through the magic of people’s words.
I’m so grateful to Afrobloggers for this opportunity, for helping me discover new parts of myself and for introducing me to the most amazing bloggers I have met. Will I do this again? Yes! I will definitely be back next year. For now I go back to my regular posting schedule so be on the look out for that.
Thanks to everyone who read, shared, liked and commented on my posts. You are all too kind. The last thing I will say is this: You won’t know what you are capable of until you try. Let go of self-doubt and just try.
This is not a goodbye but a “See you soon!”
Stay safe. Black lives matter. Stop sexual abuse.
Thanks for reading!
