Hi.
My initials spell TAP. I am a “poet” and I will be taking over Dose of Wonani today. Will you take a drink of my water?
Today’s topic is Assumptions. Can I assume you know what an assumption is?
According to the Oxford Advanced Learner’s Dictionary: International Student’s Edition (9th Edition), an assumption is defined as a belief or feeling that something is true or that something will happen, although there is NO PROOF.
**********
They saw what they saw but they didn’t really see
They took in the scene but didn’t understand what was happening
Their eyes were open but their minds were closed
They were far from the truth but thought that they were close
They didn’t understand the situation
Because they made an assumption
Without any proof
The truth vanished – poof.

“I suppose it is tempting, if the only tool you have is a hammer, to treat everything as if it were a nail. ” – Abraham Maslow
**********
“You’re just a child. You’re just a girl,” they say
Why the word ‘just’ and who are they
Who are they to say that I am limited by being who I am
I am a girl, I am a child
But I’m not mild
I can be intense
I can speak sense
I am not weak
I have the strength to climb the mountain and reach the peak.

Believe it or not, in this day and age, some people still have gender assumptions but that’s a conversation for another day.
“Your assumptions are your windows on the world. Scrub them off every once in a while, or the light won’t come in.” – Isaac Asimov
“A mind is like a parachute. It doesn’t work if it is not open.” – Frank Zappa
All that glitters is not gold. Not every conclusion you jump to is true. Not every rumour you hear is true.

Assumptions will always arise especially when you hold different people in their regards for instance half of us don’t know what our parents truly think of us it’s assumptions, friends , workmates, etc but it’s how much attention we give to them that makes the path ahead

Brought out perfectly well.
I hate assumptions if someone hasn’t said anything I refuse to believe it that’s how it works for me.
