Hi. Welcome to my second take over of Dose of Wonani. TAP the “poet” here with another drink of water. I hope you’re thirsty.
Direction. Which way are you going?
Where did the season go
It went west with the river that flows west
To set with the sun
How beautiful that sunset was
Where did she go
She sailed east on the river that flows east
To rise with the sun
How glorious that sunrise was.
If you feel like you’re heading backwards, maybe there’s something you’re supposed to go and leave behind. Some things are meant to die with the sunset, to die a beautiful death, to remain behind and not get into the next day. Rise and shine like the sun does each day. Be a glorious sunrise.
East of sixteen
Seventeen heart breaks
Seventeen stab wounds to the chest
But he never stopped
And they asked him, “Why won’t you stop?”
He said, “I won’t give up. I won’t give in. I have so much love to give. There has to be someone who can give it all to me.”
West of twenty two
Twenty one and alone in the dorm
Trying to find the calm after the storm
He was the same as the past ten
And now he is the past tense
She said to herself, “I have so much love to give.”
And then asked, “Is there anyone who will give it all to me?”
He was facing east and she was facing west
He saw the sunrise and she saw the sun set
His new chapter began, her old one ended
There was nothing borrowed, nothing lended
They shared all, they blended
Blended with their new found loves
They were all heading north.
It doesn’t matter how many times you’ve tried and failed or how old you are. Keep going.Don’t give up. Don’t give in. One day, you’ll win.
