Hey everyone. Today’s post is different from my usual content in that it’s sad but still uplifting. With that said, TRIGGER WARNING: This post contains slight references to loss of loved ones and if that is something you are not ready to read about or cannot, I highly advise you skip this post and come back for the next one!
The last two weeks have been emotionally draining for me. I have sent out a number of “RIP” messages and my heart has broken every time I have come across a post about someone who has passed on. I reached a point where I was basically expecting death or waiting to hear that someone I know has passed on and so I started preparing myself for devastating news.
However, I just wanted to use this moment and this platform to let you know, just in case you forgot, that nothing on earth is guaranteed. Life is not guaranteed, waking up tomorrow is not guaranteed, making it home is not guaranteed and everything else that happens on earth is not guaranteed. So many people have passed on and it’s been a difficult emotional burden to carry and yet a reminder that we actually won’t be here forever.
The next time you see or talk to someone you love, let them know you love them. Be kind. Clear misunderstandings and just love. Let go of grudges, forgive and let go of anger.
The next time you see someone you love, hug them a little tighter, smile at them, hold their hand and be present. Not just physically but mentally too.
The next time you see someone you love, tell them how you feel about them, be a good friend, listen to them, look them in their eyes, laugh with them, make them happy.
Send a text. Call them. That friend you haven’t spoken to in a while? Check up on them. The person you fell out with? Let them know you forgive them and move on with your life if you want to or of course, apologise if you have to. The grudge you are holding on to, release it. Breathe out and let it go. Talk things out.
We never really know when the last time you see someone is. You never know when the last time someone sees you will be. So until that time comes, do your best to be good company.
Also, I believe that life goes beyond our time on earth. So let’s live with that in mind. Knowing after all this, we still have eternity to think of and I don’t know about you but I would very much like to be on the right side of eternity.
To all those who have loved and lost, I pray God comforts you, gives you the biggest and warmest hug and heals your heart.
Thanks for reading and don’t forget to love and be kind to everyone.
Love,
Wonani Xx
