The Youth Vote: A Review of Zambia’s 2021 General Elections

In June this year, during the Afrobloggers Winter Blogging Challenge, I wrote briefly about a constitutional debate that was going on in Zambia and also mentioned that Zambia will be having elections on the 12th of August. Today is the 16th August, 2021 and voting day is well behind us.

Before my excitement for election season dies out, I decided to write this and share a few things I found interesting during this whole period from campaigning until today so please stick with me.

“Sasha needs a friend,” a breathless Ashley said to me. We had just spent the last twenty minutes playing with Sasha outside. I didn’t run often but Sasha always made sure Ashley and I got the exercise we needed.
“No, she doesn’t. Sasha, do you need a friend?” I asked her. My perfect dog looked at me for a few seconds then ran off to get one of her chew toys.
“You see! She is happy with just us,” I said as I sat on a garden chair.
“Whatever you say,” Ashley responded and sat down next to me.

I picked up my phone and started mindlessly scrolling through social media. I noticed that I had a notification on Instagram. I found that strange because I hadn’t posted anything on the app in a long time. I clicked on the notification and to my surprise, it was James.

The Perfect Breakup (Part I)

Friday afternoons take the longest to end especially when it is your birthday weekend and you have plans. James and I had a trip planned for the weekend and I was very excited about it.

I found out about the trip a week prior when he surprised me with a flight ticket. We would be going to Samfya. I had always wanted to visit the town and spend time on the beach but I never liked the idea of driving for ten hours just to get there. I was so elated when I read the email with the flight information. I opened it every day just to make sure it was real and I wasn’t dreaming.
